# Performance

### Introduction

Joy Subscriptions Analytics is split into two dashboards:

* **Performance** — Tracks business metrics: revenue, orders, and subscription counts. Use this to understand how your subscription business is doing financially and operationally.
* **Subscriber** — Tracks people metrics: subscriber behavior, retention, lifetime value, and churn. Use this to understand who your subscribers are and how they behave over time.

You can switch between the two dashboards using the dropdown at the top of the Analytics page.

This guide covers the **Performance** dashboard. For subscriber-level analytics, see the Subscriber dashboard guide.

***

Performance is split into three tabs:

* **Revenue** — How much money are subscriptions bringing in, and how does it compare to non-subscription sales?
* **Orders** — How many subscription orders are being placed, and are recurring orders being processed successfully?
* **Subscriptions** — How is your subscriber base growing or shrinking over time?

Each tab shows overview cards with key numbers at the top, followed by detailed charts and tables below. You can filter by date range and specific products to drill into what matters most.

### How to use Performance

**Step 1:** Go to **Joy Subscriptions → Analytics**. The Performance dashboard opens by default.

**Step 2:** Use the **date range** filter to select your reporting period — Last 7 days, Last 30 days, Last 12 months, or a custom range.

**Step 3:** Use the **Products** filter to focus on specific subscription products, or leave it as **All products** to see everything.

**Step 4:** Switch between the **Revenue**, **Orders**, and **Subscriptions** tabs to explore different aspects of your performance.

### Understanding the overview cards

Every tab starts with three overview cards at the top. These give you a quick snapshot before diving deeper:

* The **big number** is the metric value for your selected date range.
* The **percentage with arrow** shows how this compares to the previous period. Green (↗) means improvement, red (↘) means decline.
* The **chart or breakdown** inside the card shows how the number is composed.

Hover over the metric title to see a tooltip explaining exactly what it measures and how it's calculated.

### What you can learn from each tab

| Tab | Key questions it answers |
| ----------------- | ---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- |
| **Revenue** | Is subscription revenue growing? What share of total revenue comes from subscriptions? Which type of subscription orders generates the most revenue? |
| **Orders** | Are recurring orders being processed successfully? How many first-time subscription orders come from new vs. returning customers? |
| **Subscriptions** | Is the subscriber base growing or shrinking? How many new subscriptions are being created vs. cancelled? How long do subscribers typically stay? |

Performance is your go-to dashboard for understanding the health of your subscription business. Check it regularly to spot trends early — growing revenue, declining order success rates, or rising cancellations. The sooner you see a change, the sooner you can act on it.
