Orders
Introduction
Once customers subscribe to your products, Joy Subscriptions automatically generates recurring orders on the schedule you configured. The Orders page gives you a centralized view of all subscription orders across your store, organized into four tabs based on their current status.
From here you can track what is coming next, review completed orders, handle failed payments, and check which orders were skipped β all without leaving the app.
Understanding the Orders page
The Orders page is divided into four tabs, each representing a different stage of the order lifecycle:
Upcoming
Orders waiting to be billed on their scheduled date
Processed
Orders that were successfully billed and fulfilled
Failed
Orders where payment was declined or billing encountered an error
Skipped
Orders that were intentionally skipped by you or the customer
Each tab displays a list of orders with the Joy charge ID (e.g., #JOY1001-2) and the next order date or processed date. Click any order to open its detail page.
Upcoming tab

The Upcoming tab shows all orders that are scheduled but have not been billed yet. These orders are in the queue, waiting for their next order date to arrive.
What you can do with upcoming orders:
Reschedule β Change the billing date. Pick a new date from the calendar, and all following orders adjust automatically.
Skip β Skip this order without cancelling the subscription. The next scheduled order continues as normal.
Attempt billing β Trigger billing immediately instead of waiting for the scheduled date.
Add product β Add a one-time or recurring product to this specific order before it gets billed.
Edit shipping address β Update the delivery address for this order only.
Edit payment method β Change the payment method for this order only.
Add notes β Attach a note visible to both you and the customer. Check Apply to all upcoming orders to carry the note forward to every future order.
Tip: Check this tab regularly to catch any orders with out-of-stock products. Joy Subscriptions displays a warning banner when a product is unavailable, and the order will be automatically skipped if not resolved before billing.
Processed tab

The Processed tab shows all orders that were successfully billed. Each entry includes the order number, processed date, and a direct link to the corresponding Shopify order.
What you can do with processed orders:
View in Shopify β Click the order number to open it in Shopify admin, where you can manage fulfillment, shipping, and refunds.
View billing attempts β See how many attempts were made before the payment succeeded and the timestamp of each attempt.
This tab is your record of all successful transactions. Use it to verify that orders are being created correctly and to cross-reference with Shopify for fulfillment status.
Failed tab

The Failed tab shows orders where billing was attempted but the payment was declined. Each order displays an error message explaining why the charge failed (e.g., card expired, insufficient funds, card declined).
What you can do with failed orders:
Attempt billing β Retry the charge immediately. Use this after the customer updates their payment method or resolves the issue with their bank.
Enable auto retry β Turn on automatic retries based on your dunning management settings. Joy Subscriptions will keep retrying at configured intervals.
Reschedule β Move the order to a later date to give the customer more time to update their payment information.
Skip β Skip this order and move on to the next scheduled order.
Send payment update link β Send the customer an email with a link to update their card details.
Tip: The sooner you act on failed orders, the higher your recovery rate. Enable auto retry in your dunning settings so failed payments are retried automatically without manual work.
Skipped tab

The Skipped tab shows orders that were intentionally skipped β either by you from the admin or by the customer from their Customer Portal.
What you can do with skipped orders:
Resume β Undo the skip and return the order to the Upcoming queue with its original scheduled date.
Skipping is a great alternative to cancellation. When a customer wants to pause a single delivery, skipping keeps the subscription active and reduces churn.
Overall
The Orders page in Joy Subscriptions organizes your entire recurring order lifecycle into four clear tabs. Use Upcoming to prepare for what is next, Processed to verify successful billing, Failed to recover revenue from declined payments, and Skipped to track paused deliveries. Staying on top of each tab helps you reduce churn, recover more revenue, and deliver a reliable subscription experience to your customers.
