# Draft orders

Draft orders let you create invoices and quotes for orders that haven't been paid yet. Use them for phone orders, wholesale quotes, custom pricing, or any situation where you need to send pricing to a customer before they pay.

## Key Concepts

* **Draft Order**: An order created in Shopify that hasn't been paid yet. Send it to customers as a quote or invoice, and convert it to a real order when they pay.
* **Status**: Open (not sent), Invoice Sent, Quote Sent, or Completed (converted to order).
* **Expiry**: Draft orders expire 30 days after creation. After expiry, customers can no longer use the checkout link.
