# Printing drafts

Generate and print PDF documents for your draft orders. Create professional invoices or quotes for customers before they pay, perfect for phone orders, B2B quotes, or custom pricing scenarios.

## Why This Matters

* Send professional quotes to potential customers
* Print draft invoices for manual order processing
* Process multiple draft orders efficiently with bulk printing
* Use your custom templates for consistent branding

## How It Works

When you click the print icon on a draft order, the app opens a print page where you select templates, choose a language, and preview the PDF. The preview shows exactly what will be printed. For bulk printing, all selected drafts combine into a single PDF with page breaks between each document.

## Print a Single Draft Order

{% stepper %}
{% step %}

#### Find and click the printer icon

Go to **Draft Orders**, find your draft, and click the **printer icon** in the Actions column.
{% endstep %}

{% step %}

#### Select template and preview

Choose your template(s), select a language if needed, and preview the PDF.
{% endstep %}

{% step %}

#### Download and print

Click **Download** to save the PDF, then print from your computer.
{% endstep %}
{% endstepper %}

**Alternative:** From the detail page, click **Print** in the page actions (top-right).

## Bulk Print

Print multiple draft orders at once (up to 30). All drafts combine into a single PDF.

{% stepper %}
{% step %}

#### Select draft orders

Check the boxes next to each draft you want to print. Use **Shift+click** to select a range.
{% endstep %}

{% step %}

#### Click Print draft orders

In the bulk action bar, click **Print draft orders**.
{% endstep %}

{% step %}

#### Download and print

Choose your template(s) and language, then click **Download**. Print the combined PDF from your computer.
{% endstep %}
{% endstepper %}

**Note:** For batches over 30, the PDF is emailed to you instead.

## Use a Different Template

Select which template to use each time you print:

### At Print Time

When you click the print icon and open the print page, you'll see a template selector. Choose a different template from the list. You can even select multiple templates to include in the same PDF.

### Change the Default

If you want a different template pre-selected every time:

{% stepper %}
{% step %}

#### Go to Templates

Navigate to **Templates** in the sidebar to see all your templates.
{% endstep %}

{% step %}

#### Find your preferred template

Locate the template you want to use as your default for draft orders.
{% endstep %}

{% step %}

#### Set as Default

Click **Set as Default** on that template. This template will now be pre-selected on the print page, but you can still switch to others when needed.
{% endstep %}
{% endstepper %}

## Limits & Plan Notes

| Plan      | Draft Order Printing |
| --------- | -------------------- |
| Free      | Not available        |
| Pro       | Unlimited            |
| Ultimate  | Unlimited            |
| Wholesale | Unlimited            |

Draft order printing requires a Pro plan or higher (Pro, Ultimate, or Wholesale). If you're on the Free plan, you'll see a message prompting you to upgrade when you try to print a draft order.

**Bulk print limit:** Maximum 30 draft orders per print request. If you select more than 30, the app generates the PDF in the background and emails it to you when ready.

## Common Questions & Issues

<details>

<summary>The printer icon does nothing when I click it.</summary>

Your browser may be blocking navigation. Look for a pop-up blocked notification in your browser's address bar and allow pop-ups for this site. Then try clicking the print icon again.

</details>

<details>

<summary>I can't print draft orders on my plan.</summary>

Draft order printing requires a Pro, Ultimate, or Wholesale plan. The Free plan only supports printing regular orders. Go to **Subscription** in the sidebar to view upgrade options.

</details>

<details>

<summary>The print preview shows a blank page.</summary>

The PDF is still being generated. Wait 2-3 seconds and it should appear. If it stays blank, try refreshing the page. For persistent issues, check [PDF Issues](https://docs.avada.io/pdf-invoice/troubleshooting/pdf-issues) in troubleshooting.

</details>

<details>

<summary>Can I print a quote instead of an invoice?</summary>

Yes. Create or select a template that's designed as a quote (different title, terms, etc.) in the **Templates** section. Then select that template when printing. The app uses whatever template you choose.

</details>

<details>

<summary>I selected more than 30 drafts but didn't get an email.</summary>

For large bulk prints, the PDF is generated in the background and emailed to your account email. Check your inbox (and spam folder) for an email from the app. Generation may take a few minutes for large batches.
