Frequently Asked Questions
Answers to the questions merchants ask us most about Avada Order Limit.
Rules Not Working
My limit rule doesn't block anything. What do I check first?
Work through these in order:
- The app is active on the home page.
- The rule itself is enabled and saved, and its dates (if any) cover today.
- The rule actually matches the product, collection, or customer you are testing with.
- The Avada Order Limit block or snippet is present on the pages you are testing. Without it, the storefront has nothing to display or enforce against. See Add Block in Theme or Add Snippet Code.
Customers can still reach checkout even though the rule is set up.
Product and cart messages are front-end nudges: a shopper who goes straight to /checkout from a saved cart link can walk past them. To enforce the limit at the final step, you must register the checkout validation in Shopify: Settings → Checkout → Checkout rules → Add rule → Avada Order Limit, then enable it. See Adding a Checkout Rule.
A product I excluded is still blocked at checkout.
Check whether the product is matched by a second rule as well. Exclusions apply within the rule that defines them, so a broader collection or store-wide rule can still catch the same product. Review every active rule that could match the item.
The rule works on the product page but not in my cart drawer or quick view.
Cart drawers and quick-view popups are rendered by your theme, often after the page has loaded. The app block covers standard product and cart pages; drawers and popups usually need the snippet placed in the right template. See Add Snippet Code. If your theme renders these in a way the snippet cannot reach, contact support with your theme name.
Re-purchase limit isn't stopping repeat buyers.
Re-purchase limits are keyed to the customer's account, so customers must be logged in at checkout. Guest checkout cannot be tracked and will pass through. See Re-purchase Limit.
Limit Messages
The limit message doesn't appear, or disappears when the cart refreshes.
The message is rendered by the app block or snippet. If your theme re-renders the cart with AJAX, make sure the snippet is inside the template that gets re-rendered, not outside it.
Can I change the wording of the message?
Yes, per rule. See Customize and Translate Limit Message.
Can the message follow my store's languages?
Yes. Add each language you sell in and write the message for it; the storefront shows the version matching the active locale. See Customize and Translate Limit Message.
Can I show the message only at checkout and hide it in the cart?
Yes, by choosing which pages carry the app block or snippet and registering the checkout rule for enforcement.
Rule Types
Which rule type should I use?
| Goal | Rule |
|---|---|
| Cap or require a quantity of one product | Create Product Limit |
| Apply the same cap across a collection | Create Collection Limit |
| Set a minimum or maximum for the whole cart | Create Order Limit |
| Limit by who the customer is | Create Customer Limit |
| Stop a product from being bought at all | Create Product Blocking Limit |
| Limit how often the same customer can buy | Re-purchase Limit |
What happens when two rules match the same product?
Both are evaluated, and the shopper must satisfy all of them. If one rule requires a minimum of 5 and another caps at 3, nothing can be ordered, so review overlapping rules when a cart looks impossible to complete.
Do limits apply per variant or per product?
A product limit applies to the product you select. If you need different caps for different variants, create the rules against the variants you want to control.
Storefront & Performance
Does the app slow my store down?
The app loads a small storefront script. If you see the script loaded twice, the most common cause is having both the theme app block and the manual snippet installed for the same page. Keep one of the two.
Can I automate actions on orders that hit a limit?
Yes, through Shopify Flow. See Shopify Flow.
Billing
How much does the app cost?
See Plans & Pricing.
Will I be charged after uninstalling?
Shopify bills the full amount for the subscription period you already started, so uninstalling mid-cycle does not cancel that charge.
Still Stuck?
Open the live chat inside the app and send us your store URL, the rule name, and the exact product or cart you tested with. That is usually enough for us to reproduce it on the first reply.
