Getting started
When you open Avada Pixel & Tracking for the first time, a 3-step wizard — Set up Pixel & Tracking — walks you through picking a platform, configuring a pixel, and going live. You can finish it in a few minutes.
The wizard blocks the rest of the app until it's done, but every step has a Skip for now button in the top right if you'd rather look around first. Skipping is safe: you can add a pixel any time from Connections.
1. Choose platform
Which platform do you want to track? Pick one:
- Meta — Pixel + Conversions API for Facebook & Instagram ads.
- GA4 — Google Analytics 4 with Measurement Protocol.
You only choose one here. You can connect the other later in Connections.
Click Continue.
On the free plan the app runs one channel at a time. Running Meta and GA4 together is unlocked on request — see Plans and limits.
2. Configure
The step is titled Configure Meta or Configure GA4 depending on your choice.
Set up method
| Option | What happens |
|---|---|
| Connect with Facebook (OAuth) / Connect with Google (OAuth) | You sign in, then pick a pixel straight out of your account — no IDs to copy |
| Enter ID manually | You paste the Pixel ID or Measurement ID yourself |
If you connect with OAuth: click Log in with Facebook (or Log in with Google), then choose from two dropdowns:
- Ad account → Pixel (Meta)
- GA4 property → Data stream (GA4)
If you enter the ID manually, fill in the ID field:
- Pixel ID (Meta) — a 15–16 digit number. Find it in Events Manager → Data sources, next to your pixel name.
- Measurement ID (GA4) — looks like
G-XXXXXXXXXX. Find it in Admin → Data streams → your web stream.
Pixel name
Give the pixel a name — for example Main store pixel. It's for your reference only, and it's the name shown across the app.
Server-side API
Turn on Server-side API (labelled Conversions API for Meta, Measurement Protocol for GA4). This sends conversions directly from our server, which keeps tracking working past ad-blockers and iOS restrictions.
Whether you need to paste a credential depends on how you set up:
- Meta via Facebook login — nothing to paste. The Conversions API access token comes from your login.
- Meta with a manual ID — paste your Conversions API access token (Events Manager → Settings → Conversions API → Generate access token).
- GA4 — always paste a Measurement Protocol API secret (Admin → Data streams → your stream → Measurement Protocol API secrets → Create).
Test event code
Optional, but recommended: it's what lets Diagnostic route your test traffic where you can see it.
- Meta — the field is Test event code. Copy the code from Events Manager → Test events (it looks like
TEST12345). - GA4 — the field is Debug mode. Enter
debug_modeto surface this store's events in DebugView.
Click Continue.
3. Consent & go live
The last step, Ready to go live, summarizes what you're about to create — Platform, Setup method, Pixel name, the ID, and whether Server-side API is on.
It also confirms that Consent Mode v2 ships on with safe defaults: events only fire after a shopper grants consent in deny-by-default regions.
Click Go live.
4. Turn on the app embed
Creating a pixel isn't quite enough. The app also needs its theme app embed switched on, because that's what loads your pixels on the storefront — without it, no browser-side events are sent.
Open Home. The Setup guide card lists three steps and works out which ones are already done:
- Enable app — click Enable. If the embed isn't on your theme yet, the button opens the Shopify theme editor; turn on Avada Pixel under App embeds and click Save, then come back.
- Connect platform — done if you signed in during the wizard.
- Add pixel — done if you finished the wizard.
The badge next to Enable tells you where you stand: On, Off, or Not added.
The Setup guide never trusts a stored flag — it re-checks your theme, your platform login, and your pixels on every load. Disable the embed or disconnect a platform and that step reopens by itself.
You're done
Browse your own storefront, then open Diagnostic to watch the events arrive. Once real orders come in, Reconciliation starts scoring how many of them your pixels actually captured.
From here the app has these tabs in the left sidebar:
- Home — setup guide, accuracy, key events, pixel health
- Connections — pixels and platform logins
- Diagnostic — live event feed
- Alerts — breakage detected automatically
- Settings — events, order value, attribution, consent, retention
