Buy a label
Convert a selected rate into a paid shipping label and auto-fulfill the Shopify order.
Introduction
Once a shipping service is selected on a row, Buy label purchases the label from the carrier, downloads the PDF behind the scenes, and updates the Shopify order to Fulfilled with the carrier's tracking number and tracking URL. The customer receives the standard Shopify shipping confirmation with that tracking link.
Understanding what happens on click
When you click Buy label, Avada runs three steps:
- Buy — charges your shipping account for the selected rate and receives the label.
- Fulfillment — creates a fulfillment in Shopify with the carrier and tracking number.
- Link — attaches the label PDF to the order so you can print or download it later.
If any step fails, the row turns into the Review errors state and the error message tells you which step failed.
How to buy a label
Confirm a service is selected
Make sure the row shows a selected service in the Shipping service dropdown. If it shows Get rates instead, fetch rates first.
Click Buy label
Click the Buy label button at the right end of the row.
Wait for the fulfillment confirmation
The status badge flips to Fulfilled with a green checkmark, and a success banner appears at the top: Order #1234 fulfilled — Label purchased and order marked as fulfilled in Shopify.
Print or download the label
The action column now shows two icons — Print and Download — for the label.
Tips & best practices
- In Test mode, the purchase is free and the label is a sample. Switch to Production mode in Settings → API keys when you're ready to ship for real.
- If you buy multiple labels in a row, the success banner aggregates: 3 orders fulfilled — Labels purchased for orders #1234, #1235, #1236 and marked as fulfilled in Shopify.
- The customer's shipping confirmation email from Shopify includes the tracking link automatically — no extra step on your side.
Overall
Each label purchase is a single click after rates are fetched. Move on to Print or download to send the label to your printer.
