Fetch and compare rates
Pull live rates from your connected carriers in one click and pick the service you want.
Introduction
Rates are not pre-loaded for every order — they're fetched on demand when you click Get rates on a specific row. This keeps the screen fast and avoids burning through your rate quota for orders you may never ship.
Understanding the package and rates
Before rates can be fetched, Avada needs three things on the row:
- A valid shipping address (auto-filled from Shopify, editable inline)
- A selected package (defaults to your store-default saved package)
- A connected shipping account
If any are missing, Get rates returns an error explaining which one.
How to fetch rates
Confirm the package selection
Find the order on the Orders screen and confirm the package selector shows the box you want to use. Click the dropdown to switch packages if needed.
Click Get rates
Click the Get rates button on the right side of the row.
Wait for the rate list to load
A loading spinner appears, then the Shipping service dropdown fills with returned rates. Each rate shows the carrier, service name, price, and estimated delivery in business days.
Select a service
Click the dropdown and select the service you want. The action button changes from Get rates to Buy label.
Tips & best practices
- Rates returned reflect your account pricing and any carrier discounts you've negotiated.
- If the dropdown shows No rates returned for this shipment, the destination is likely outside your carriers' service area or your package exceeds carrier size limits.
- Re-fetching rates is safe and free — click Get rates again to refresh if prices look stale.

Once a service is selected, the row is one click away from a printed label. Continue to Buy a label.
