Manual backup
A manual backup captures a snapshot of your store on demand, right now — independent of your scheduled backups. Run one before any risky change: a theme update, a bulk edit, a third-party app install, or a big sale.
Run a manual backup
Click Backup now
From the Dashboard, click Backup now. (You can also start one from the Backups list.)
Choose what to back up
In the dialog, select the data types to include. Every type is selected by default — uncheck any you want to skip, or use Select all to toggle them together. See Backup types for what each type covers.
Add a note (optional)
Add a short note to label the snapshot — for example, "Saving state before Black Friday changes." The note appears next to the backup in your history so you can find it later.
Start backup
Click Start backup. The snapshot runs in the background; you can keep working or leave the app.
What happens next
The backup moves through these states, which you can watch on the Backups list or the backup's detail page:
| Status | Meaning |
|---|---|
| Queued | The job is accepted and waiting to start |
| In progress | The app is capturing your store data |
| Validating | The snapshot is being checked for completeness |
| Completed | The backup finished successfully |
| Partial | The backup finished, but some items could not be captured |
| Failed | The backup could not complete — see the detail page for the reason |
When it's done, the snapshot appears in your Backups list with its item count and size, ready to restore or compare.
