Backup schedule
Configure when automatic backups run and which data types to include.
Automatic backups
Toggle Automatic backups on to run scheduled snapshots in the background. When off, you can still create snapshots manually from the dashboard.
Frequency

💡 Daily suits most stores. Switch to Hourly during periods of heavy theme edits or bulk product updates, then back to Daily when activity returns to normal.
Preferred time
Pick the hour the backup starts. Backups run within a 30-minute window of this time — exact start time may vary based on system load.
We recommend off-peak hours (e.g. 06:00 store time) to minimize impact on storefront traffic.
Timezone
Auto-detected from your Shopify store settings. To change it, update the timezone in Shopify admin → Settings → General → Store details.
Data types
Select which resources to include in each snapshot. By default, all 13 data types are selected.

Unchecking a resource means it will not appear in any new backup. Existing backups are unaffected.
Pre-update snapshots
When enabled, Avada Backups & Restore automatically creates a snapshot before high-risk changes such as:
- Installing a new theme
- Bulk product imports
- Theme code edits via the Shopify code editor
- App installs that request
write_themesorwrite_productsscope
These pre-update snapshots are tagged Auto and counted against your storage quota. They follow the same retention policy as scheduled backups.
⚠️ Pre-update snapshots add safety but consume more storage. If you're on the Free plan, leave this off to avoid hitting the storage limit.
