Scheduled backup
A scheduled backup runs automatically on a recurring basis, so your store is protected without you having to remember. This is the safety net behind your manual backups.
You configure the schedule in Settings → Backup schedule. For the full walkthrough, see Backup schedule.
Frequencies
| Frequency | Runs |
|---|---|
| Every 6 hours | 4 times a day |
| Every 12 hours | Twice a day |
| Daily | Once a day, at the hour you choose |
| Weekly | Once a week, on the day and hour you choose |
How timing works
- Preferred time — pick the hour (00:00–23:00) the backup should start.
- Timezone — all times use your store's timezone, shown next to the time picker. You don't set it here; it follows your Shopify store settings.
- Day of week — only shown when the frequency is Weekly. Choose any day, Monday through Sunday.
Enable or pause
Use the toggle at the top of the Backup schedule tab to turn scheduled backups on or off. Pausing the schedule does not delete your existing snapshots, and you can still run manual backups at any time.
💡 Scheduled and manual backups share the same retention window. See Retention policy for how long snapshots are kept.
