Alerts
Instead of finding out from a sales dip that tracking stopped or a card payment failed, let the app check your setup every day and tell you what broke and how to fix it.
Where you see alerts
- On Home. The Alerts tile in the health strip shows how many alerts are active, split into critical and warning. Click View alerts to open the Alerts page.
- On the Alerts page. Every alert that is active right now, worst first.
- By email. One email when a new problem starts, and one when it clears. See Alert emails.
The checks run when you open the Alerts page and once a day. Each alert is listed only while its problem lasts. When the problem goes away, the alert leaves the list on its own.
Read an alert
Each row shows the alert's title, what the app measured, a severity badge (Critical or Warning) and a status badge. Click a row to open its details:
- Measured: the facts the app found, such as "Items rejected in the latest upload: 120 of 400".
- Cause: what is going on, in plain words.
- Suggested fix: what to do.
- A button that takes you to the page where you fix it, such as Open feed or Open account.
Opening an active alert marks it as Seen. Use Status and Severity at the top of the list to filter it.
Fix and resolve
Fix the problem
Click the button in the alert, such as Open account, and follow the Suggested fix. Some fixes happen in Ads Manager or in your Shopify admin.
Click Resolve
Back in the alert, click Resolve. The app checks again before it closes the alert.
- "Resolved - condition cleared and verified." The alert leaves the list.
- "Still failing - the issue is active again, not resolved yet." The fix didn't hold, so the alert stays.
To check everything again at once, click Re-check now at the top of the page. The app re-reads your ChatGPT Ads account and runs every check. If you click it twice in a row, it asks you to wait a few seconds.
When OpenAI can't be reached, the page says Your ChatGPT Ads account could not be checked. Billing and review alerts may be missing then, so an empty list is not an all-clear. Click Re-check now to try again.
Alert types
Your ChatGPT Ads account
| Alert | What it means | What to do |
|---|---|---|
| OpenAI rejected your API key (Critical) | The saved Ads API key was revoked, deleted or replaced. The app can't read your ad account or manage anything through it. | Create a new key in Ads Manager, then replace it in Settings. |
| Your ChatGPT Ads account cannot pay (Critical) | OpenAI reports a billing problem, such as no valid payment method or a failed payment. Your ads may not run. | Open Billing in Ads Manager and add or update a payment method. |
| OpenAI rejected your brand review (Critical) | OpenAI reviews each advertiser's brand and website before ads run, and rejected yours. The alert names the reason when OpenAI gives one. | Fix what the reason names on your website, then ask for a new review in Ads Manager. If the reason is a missing brand icon, see Settings. |
| OpenAI did not approve your account review (Critical) | OpenAI reviewed the ad account and did not approve it. Ads can't run while that decision stands. | Open Ads Manager to see OpenAI's decision and what it asks of you. |
| ChatGPT Ads tracking is not running yet (Critical) | Setup is unfinished, so no events reach ChatGPT Ads. Nothing is broken, it just hasn't started. | Finish setup on Home, starting with connecting your account. |
Tracking
| Alert | What it means | What to do |
|---|---|---|
| OpenAI is not accepting your Conversions API events (Warning) | Many of the events the app sent through the Conversions API were not accepted, so those conversions are missing from ChatGPT Ads. | Open the pixel on Tracking and check its connection. If OpenAI still refuses it, set the pixel up again. |
| Shoppers are checking out, but your storefront recorded nothing (Warning) | Shopify recorded orders and checkouts, but your storefront sent no page views, product views, searches or add-to-carts. | If the app embed is off, click Open theme editor, turn on Avada ChatGPT Ads pixel, save, then visit your store once. If it is on, chat with us so we can look at your store with you. |
| Purchases recorded differ from your Shopify orders (Warning) | The app tracked a different number of purchases than Shopify recorded, by 5% or more. It needs at least 20 orders to compare. | Compare the order list on Performance, which shows how the app got each order and whether it was sent to ChatGPT Ads. |
Product feed
| Alert | What it means | What to do |
|---|---|---|
| OpenAI did not accept your latest product feed (Warning) | OpenAI failed the latest product file, or rejected a large share of its products. Rejected products are missing from ChatGPT Ads. | Open the feed, review the product issues, then push the feed again. |
| Your product feed has not reached OpenAI recently (Warning) | OpenAI hasn't processed a product file from the app for several days, so ads may show old prices and stock. | Open the feed to see why the latest push didn't complete, then push it again. If your API key isn't working, fix that in Settings first. |
| A product feed managed by Shopify is on your ad account (Warning) | OpenAI lists a second product feed, most likely from another ChatGPT app on your store. Two apps can send the same products and purchases twice. | Click Read the guide, then decide which app runs ChatGPT Ads for your store. See Already using OpenAI's own app?. |
Campaigns and spend
| Alert | What it means | What to do |
|---|---|---|
| OpenAI rejected an ad in one of your campaigns (Critical) | OpenAI reviews every ad before it shows. It rejected the named ad and gave a reason. A rejected ad isn't shown in ChatGPT. | Open Campaigns to see the ad and the reason. Fix what the reason names, most often the page the ad links to. Then edit the ad or appeal in Ads Manager. |
| An active campaign isn't fully serving (Warning) | The campaign is on, but OpenAI reports serving issues on it. Billing, reviews and rejected ads have alerts of their own. | Open Campaigns. It lists each issue with what to do. |
| On track to spend more than your monthly target (Warning) | At the average daily spend of the last 7 days, this month will end more than 10% over your monthly target or Autopilot cap. It is a forecast. Nothing was changed. | Open Campaigns to see each campaign's pace. Lower budgets or pause campaigns if you want to stay within the target. |
| Autopilot has suggestions (Warning) | A rule you turned on found campaigns or products that spent without enough sales. It is set to suggest, so nothing changed. | Apply or dismiss each suggestion in the Autopilot card on Campaigns. A suggestion is kept for 3 days. |
| Autopilot reduced spend (Warning) | A rule set to act on its own paused a campaign or took a product out of a Shopping campaign. | Check the action in the Autopilot card on Campaigns. Undo puts a product back. A paused campaign starts again only when you click Activate. |
Autopilot never starts a campaign or raises a budget. Only your click on Activate starts spending. See Campaigns.
Snooze alert emails
Already know about a problem, or run two apps on purpose? Open the alert and click Snooze emails until this clears.
- Emails about this issue stop until it clears. The alert stays on the list with the status Emails snoozed.
- If the issue clears and later comes back, the new occurrence is emailed as usual.
Alert emails
The app emails you about each problem once, not every day:
- One email when a problem starts. It names the problem and links to the page that fixes it.
- One email when it clears. The Autopilot and spend-pacing alerts end without a "back to normal" email, because there is nothing to recover.
- One email for a problem that turns into a worse one. A feed that stopped updating and then fails, or a campaign that isn't fully serving and then has an ad rejected, is told as the new problem. You don't get a "cleared" email in between.
An unfinished setup is shown in the app, never emailed.
Choose who gets the emails and whether warnings are emailed in Settings → Notifications. Critical alerts are always emailed. Turning off Warning alerts stops those emails only. The alerts still show in the app.
Weekly report email
Turn on Email me a weekly report in Settings → Notifications to get a summary every Monday morning. It goes to the same addresses as your alerts.
FAQs
Why did an alert disappear before I clicked Resolve?
The problem went away. Alerts are listed only while their problem lasts, so the list empties itself once a fix works.
Does an empty Alerts page mean everything works?
Yes, when the page says No active alerts: none of the checks found a problem. If it also says the account checks wait for OpenAI to answer, the account wasn't checked, so click Re-check now.
Can I stop all alert emails?
No. Critical alerts, such as a rejected API key or a missing payment method, are always emailed because your ads stop. You can turn off warning emails and snooze a single alert's emails.
Who gets the emails?
Your store owner's email, unless you add other addresses in Settings. Added addresses replace the store owner.
