Manage Order Tags
Order tags are a free-form labelling system on the Shopify order. Avada Order Editing lets you add, edit, or remove tags directly from our admin card on the Order page — and (optionally) auto-tag orders that have been edited or cancelled.
Why use tags
- Filter in your Shopify admin — all orders tagged
address-editedafter fulfilment. - Trigger Shopify Flow — if order tagged
customer-cancelled, send slack alert. - Segment for analytics — see which tag drives the most refunds.
Manual tagging
Order tags live in Shopify's native Tags field on the order page (right column). You manage them there as usual:
- Open an order in Shopify admin.
- In the Tags field (right column), type a tag and press Enter — or pick from existing tags via dropdown.
- Save.
Avada Order Editing reads and writes the same native tags field, so anything the app auto-tags shows up here too.
Auto-tagging (optional)
Two switches in Settings → General:
- Auto-tag edited orders with
order-edited(off by default). - Auto-tag cancelled orders with
order-cancelled(off by default).
When on, every successful customer edit / cancel adds the tag automatically. Existing tags are kept — we only add ours.
What about customers tagging?
Customers cannot edit tags from the storefront. This is intentional — tags often gate internal workflows, and we do not want a customer accidentally clearing them. If you have a real use case for customer tag editing, tell us.
Removing tags
Remove a tag the same way: open the order's Tags field, click the × on the chip, save. Removing a tag we auto-added does not re-add on the next edit — once you remove, it stays removed.
