Allowed Edit Types
The second card in Settings (below Edit Limits). It controls what shows up on the customer-facing widget.

Core switches
| Switch | What it lets the customer do |
|---|---|
| Edit shipping address | Change any address line except country. |
| Cancel order | Cancel with auto-refund + restock. |
| Edit order note | Free-text 1000-char note on the order. |
Edit items
The same card has an Edit items section that lets customers change the products on their order:
| Switch | What it lets the customer do |
|---|---|
| Change product variant | Swap to another variant (size, color…) of the same product. |
| Change product quantity | Increase or decrease the quantity of a line item. |
| Add new products to order | Add another product — flagged Higher risk because it can raise the order total and trigger an extra charge. |
| Remove products from order | Remove a line item, with refund for the removed amount. |
Item edits recalculate the order total and charge or refund the difference through the original payment method.
After changing any switch, click Save (top right) to apply. Customers visiting the Order Status Page after that see the new set of options.
💡 Not sure what a switch does to the customer view? The Preview panel on the right shows it live as you toggle — before you save.
How to think about this
- Address only — safest for new merchants. Cancellations are sticky to undo, address is reversible.
- Address + cancel — great for stores with high changed-my-mind tickets. Auto-refund means zero work for you.
- All three — most permissive. If your AOV is high or your fulfilment is slow, give customers the most control.
You can change this at any time. The change applies to all orders within the time window — including orders placed before you flipped the switch.
When the customer sees nothing
If all three are off, the Edit your order card is hidden entirely on the Order Status Page. No empty state, no nag — clean.
