Setup Wizard

The first time you open Luna Order Editing, a setup wizard pops up on its own and walks you through the two things that get the app live: setting your editing rules, and adding the widget to your store. Finish it once and your customers can start editing their orders right after checkout.

Why this matters

Nothing in the app is live until the widget is on your order pages. The wizard exists so you do not have to hunt for that step. It puts a safe set of rules in place, then hands you straight to the one screen where the widget gets turned on. Skip it and the app simply waits, quietly, until you add the widget yourself from the dashboard.

The wizard opens automatically for a new install, on whichever app page you land on first. It only greets you once. Once you finish it or skip it, it does not open again.

If you already had the widget on, or a customer has already edited an order, the wizard treats your shop as set up and never pops up. Existing shops are left alone.

Step 1, Set your editing rules

This step sets the safe frame before you open editing to customers. You will see:

  • How long customers can edit, one of three windows: Up to 1 hour, Up to 24 hours, or Until the order is fulfilled.
  • What customers can do, five toggles: Edit shipping address, Cancel order, Edit note, Change items, and Apply discount. All five start on, so the fastest path is to leave them as they are and continue.

On the right, a live preview of the Edit your order widget updates as you change anything, so you can see what your customer will see before you commit.

You can leave everything at its defaults and move on. Your choices are saved when you continue to step 2, and you can fine-tune all of them later on the Editing rules page.

If you turn every option off, the widget has nothing to offer and stays hidden from customers. The wizard flags this before you continue, so keep at least one option on.

Step 2, Enable the widget in your theme

The customer-facing block is a Shopify checkout extension, so it is switched on in Shopify's checkout editor, not from inside the app. The wizard gives you a numbered guide and a short video you can play right there in the popup:

  1. Click Enable app block to open the theme editor.
  2. Select the Luna Order Editing block.
  3. Click Save in the top right.

The widget then appears right after checkout, on your Thank you page. When you come back to the app, it detects the block on its own, so there is no button to press to confirm.

When you are done, click Go to dashboard to close the wizard. If you close it early with the X or by clicking outside, that is fine too: it reopens at the step you left off, until you either finish or skip it.

The video plays inside the popup, and you can expand it to full width if you want a closer look. You are never sent out to another site to watch it.

Get support at any step

Get support sits in the corner on every step. Clicking it opens live chat without losing your place in the wizard, and it drops in a starter message for the step you are on, so support already knows whether you are working on your rules or on the widget. Send it as is or add detail first.

Skipping and reopening later

  • Skip all steps closes the wizard immediately, from any step, with no confirmation. It will not reopen.
  • The wizard is a one-time welcome, not the only way to set up. Everything it covers stays available on your dashboard.

If the wizard is gone and you still need to finish setting up, use the Quickstart card on your dashboard. It tracks the same two steps, Configure settings and Add the widget, and stays there for good. To change your rules at any time, open Editing rules in the sidebar.

FAQ

The wizard disappeared before I finished. How do I set up now? Use the Quickstart card on your dashboard. It covers the same two steps and never goes away. See Quick Start (2 Steps).

Can I reopen the wizard? No. It is a one-time welcome. Everything it does is also on the dashboard: the Quickstart card for the two setup steps, and the Editing rules page for the rules themselves.

I skipped it by accident. Did I lose anything? No. Nothing is locked in by skipping. Finish setup from the Quickstart card and adjust rules on the Editing rules page whenever you like.

Why did I never see the wizard? If your shop already had the widget on, or a customer had already edited an order, the app considers you set up and does not interrupt you.

Does the widget only show on the Thank you page? The wizard turns it on for the Thank you page, which is enough for the basic flow. You can also add it to the Order status page later from the checkout editor.
