Google Analytics / TikTok Pixel / Facebook Pixel Does Not Work with Shopify

If your tracking pixels (Google Analytics, TikTok Pixel, or Meta/Facebook Pixel) are not firing or collecting data after installing Avada Cookie Consent, this is likely expected behavior due to consent mode.

Why This Happens

When Avada Cookie Consent is active, tracking scripts are blocked by default until the visitor gives consent. This is how consent-based compliance works:

1. A visitor arrives on your store.
2. The cookie consent banner is displayed.
3. Before consent is given, tracking pixels are blocked to comply with GDPR/CCPA requirements.
4. After consent is given, the tracking pixels fire normally and begin collecting data.

Common Causes

• Visitor declined cookies — If a visitor clicks "Decline" or "Reject All", tracking pixels will not fire for that session.
• Consent not yet given — The visitor may have closed the banner without making a choice, and your settings may block pixels until explicit consent is received.
• Integration not enabled — Make sure the relevant integration (Google Consent Mode, Meta Pixel, TikTok Pixel) is turned on in the Avada Cookie Consent app under Integrations.
• Script loading order — Ensure the consent integration scripts are loaded before the tracking pixel scripts in your theme code.

Solutions

1. Verify integration status — Go to Integrations in the app and confirm each pixel integration is turned on.
2. Check consent mode signals — Use browser Developer Tools to verify that consent signals are being sent correctly after a visitor accepts cookies.
3. Test in incognito mode — Open an incognito/private window, visit your store, accept all cookies, and verify that pixels fire.
4. Review script order — For Google Consent Mode, ensure avada-cookiebar-gcm-integration.js is loaded before your GTM/GA script in theme.liquid.
