### ✅ Fix 404 links

#### What is it?

We help detect 404 links and remove them by redirecting them to new destination URL.

In 404 link managers, you can set up automated redirect and custom redirect.

* Automated redirect: This helps auto detect and redirect 404 pages to new URL.
* Custom redirect: This helps redirect specific 404 pages to new URL

#### Why it matters?

A 404 link (page not found) is generally not good for SEO for several reasons:

1. User experience: When visitors encounter a 404 page, it can lead to frustration and a poor user experience, which may cause them to leave your site
2. Link equity: If other sites are linking to a page that returns a 404 error, you're losing potential link equity (or "link juice") that could benefit your site's overall SEO.
3. Indexing issues: Too many 404 errors can signal to search engines that your site has quality or maintenance problems, potentially affecting your overall search rankings.

#### How does it work?

1. Go to "Broken link manager"
2. In Auto-redirect, click **Edit.** This will help auto-redirect 404 links to new links.
3. **Temporary redirect**: This helps redirect 404 pages to new URL temporarily. SEO value won't be transferred to new URL. This helps improve user experience when directing 404 link to new URL temporarily.\
**Permanent redirect (301)**: This helps redirect 404 pages to new URL permanently. SEO value will be transferred to new URL. Learn more about [301](https://docs.avada.io/seo-suite-help-center/other-features/broken-link-manager/301-and-302-redirect).\
