Approving Changes

An assistant holding one of the four Propose permissions can propose a change. It cannot make one. Every change goes through a confirmation page in your own Shopify admin, and even approving there does not apply it.

How a change reaches your store

  1. The assistant drafts it. Drafting writes nothing. It produces the exact diff, what the change will do, and a confirmation link.
  2. You open the link, on the Confirm change page in your admin.
  3. You approve or reject.
  4. The assistant applies it. This is the step that changes your store.

The Confirm change page

PartWhat it tells you
The opening line{connection name} wants to change your {area}, and where it applies, for example Program: Summer influencers, Affiliate: Mai Tran, or 12 conversions, 480.00 USD in commission.
What this will doThe knock-on effects in plain language, for example that approving an affiliate creates their discount code in Shopify and emails them their referral link.
ChangesThe before and after value of each field.
Approve / RejectReject and nothing changes.

Changes that cost money, the payout schedule, order tagging, commission rules, affiliate approvals and conversion decisions, are flagged more strongly than routine ones.

Approving is permission, not action

The line under the buttons says it plainly:

Approving only grants permission — nothing on your store changes until the AI assistant applies it.

After approving, the page becomes Permission granted, with Nothing on your store has changed yet — the AI assistant still needs to apply it. Approve and then close the conversation, and the change never happens. Go back and tell the assistant to apply it.

Time limits

A confirmation link is valid for 15 minutes, then the page shows This request has expired and asks you to have the assistant request it again.

Reopening a link you already dealt with tells you what happened rather than letting you act twice: You already approved this change, This change has already been applied, or You already rejected this change.

Do not stack proposals

Ask the assistant for one change at a time and see it through. Drafting the same change twice only gives you two things to approve, and it will say so rather than treat your not-yet-approved draft as an error.

Checking that a change landed

Open Change history at the bottom of the AI connections page. A real change always leaves a row there. If the assistant says it changed something and there is no new row, it did not.
