Move an Affiliate to Another Program
Each affiliate belongs to exactly one program, and that program decides their commission rule, product scope, and customer discount. Move lets you reassign an affiliate to a different program at any time — no need to delete and recreate them.
When to use this
- You added an affiliate to the wrong program and want to fix it.
- A top performer earns a promotion — move them from, say, Standard — 10% to VIP — 20%.
- You're restructuring your programs and want an affiliate on a better-fitting one.
How to move an affiliate
- Go to Affiliates.
- On the affiliate's row, click the Move (pencil) icon in the Actions column.
- The Move dialog opens, showing the affiliate's commission overview, their details, and their current program.
- Pick the destination under Move to program. The affiliate's current program is hidden from the list, so you can't accidentally move them onto the same one.
- Click Move. The affiliate's program updates immediately and the list refreshes.
Reading the commission overview
The dialog shows three lifetime numbers so you can confirm you're moving the right person and see how much they've contributed:
| Metric | What it means |
|---|---|
| Total commission | Everything the affiliate has earned across all valid statuses (pending + approved + paid, minus refunds). Rejected (denied) commissions are not counted. |
| Confirmed | The total you've already approved as owed to them — this includes amounts you've since paid out. |
| Paid | What has actually been paid to them via payouts. |
These always read as a funnel: Total commission ≥ Confirmed ≥ Paid. For day-to-day, recent numbers (what's pending right now), use the Conversions page — the overview here is a lifetime summary.
Refunds and clawbacks are negative, so Total commission or Confirmed can show a negative value.
What changes after a move
| What happens | |
|---|---|
| Future commission | Calculated using the new program from the moment of the move. |
| Past commission | Never recalculated. A conversion keeps the program it was tracked under — orders tracked before the move stay on the old program's rate, even if you approve or pay them later. |
| Coupon code | Kept as-is. The affiliate's existing discount code stays active so any links they've already shared keep working — only the commission rule changes. |
| Referral link | Unchanged. Links are tied to the affiliate, not the program. |
The cut-off is the time a conversion is tracked (when the order comes in), not when it's approved or paid. An order placed before the move always pays the old rate.
Good to know
- This moves one affiliate at a time. Moving many at once (bulk) is coming in a later release.
- You can't move an affiliate if your store only has one program — create another program first.
- Moving works for affiliates in any status (Active, Pending, Inactive); it only changes their program, not their status.
